I'll try and make it if I can, but no promises. I think my Sister had a Doctors appointment on Wed, but I might be able to catch a ride with her bf, or just take the train over from their place in Santa Clara. I'd like to make it. If not, I know I'll be wandering around on Tuesday after the keynote. Maybe see y'all at the OWC thing.
Gonna be weird to see some of you in person. I'm used to you just being disembodied voices. :p And there goes my mystique too.

After reading through this thread I went ahead and ordered 8GB of ram, upgrading from 4GB. I'm hoping it helps my load times in Starcraft II.

Wait a minute...I think I see your problem. Just click once on you document folder and it will open very quickly.
what you are doing is simulating a right click (Click and hold the button down). this will bring up a Start menu-like interface).. I think if you right click this will happen instantly, too.... (or maybe it's option-click...I'm not on my mac at the moment, unfortunately). There is SUPPOSED to be a delay when you click and hold like that.
I've never seen Finder slow... and I'm on the same machine as you are.
(of course I may have completely misread this and be totally wrong, in which case I would ask what apps you have open, how much memory is on the machine, etc.)
Nevertheless, if one user is using the dock this way (and a Mac user at that), that means there are many others out there. And that means that a lifetime windows user going to the Apple Store and using a Mac for the first time is going to try to use the dock this way. They are going to click on the leftmost icon on the Dock, the Finder icon, expecting it to work just like the Start menu.
Maybe now that Apple trackpads have 2-finger right click, this feature of the dock should just be disabled by default if OS X detects that you are using a MacBook/Pro, or have a mouse plugged in that has a right mouse button.

Glad to see that it is now so much easier to replace the harddrive on those iMacs - now I might get one and put a 500GB SSD in it :D
Just be sure to invest in anti-static screen roller. Once you've taken the glass off, it's almost impossible to get it back on without being left with a speck of dust trapped between the LCD and glass. 27 inch is twice as frustrating

Deer piss? No, it's clydesdale piss. When a company makes such a horrible product and features an animal so prominently in its advertising, it makes you wonder ;)

We should all play nice.
Exactly my sentiment! Remember, even those with 2006 mac pros are feeling the pressure of being driven into obsolesence, but for what its worth they are still capable of many things.. Both PowerPC and Intel have their advantages.. None is better than the other..
When a computer fails to do what you tell it to do, then it becomes worthless and useless... but so long as it can do what you ask and throw at it, it will NEVER be obsolete.. Apple may mark obsolete the G4 and G5, but for many things they are great machines..
Sometimes the latest and greatest isn't what we expect out of a machine just to do emailing, watching a video here and there.. yes, my PB G4 handles hulu and stagevu quite well..

Japanese culture isn't "superior," it's just "well suited to maintaining public order immediately after a major disaster."
I would also suggest better suited than Americans to face a future where cooperation, both nationally and internationally, will become a more valued and necessary trait.

Which part was wrong? Apple sent people to investigate the finders house, not Gizmodo, (http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2010/04/dude-apple/ ) And he also mentions that he knows Apple didn't ask the police to go after Chen (But then immediately goes on to say that apple should go after AT&T) I don't think any part of Stewart's commentary was inaccurate, just misleading.
The part where he omitted the iPhone was stolen property as to why the cops seized the computers and the fact calling Apple's tech support( which he just stated as Apple denied the prototype) as a proper way of action to return the device. From watching The Daily Show a lot, Jon while a comedian does tend to do some research on what he talks about. This one lacked a lot of the details surrounding the story. Even though he is a comedic reporter who does comedy bits of the latest news story and the media, he always seemed informed on the subject. It looks like he sacrificed the facts for comedy this time around.

With such a great delay the XServes are coming at the same time Intel will release the first Quad-Core Clovertown CPUs.
Is Apple delaying so much in order to ship the XServe with Clovertown instead of Woodcrest?
I doubt that is the case since they announced the delay and then started taking preorders. I guess it's possible but why bother taking preorders. If they were waiting they would probably say something to get more orders.

Same here w/BestBuy...I was called on the 22nd and told the store would only have 5 phones then my girlfriend goes in today and they have 20 phones....so even though I cancelled my preorder and returned the $50 gift card I still had the pre-order form and they asked no questions so I gave no answer. Walked out swiftly w/my new iPhone!

What will the effect of carbon fiber be on the environment vs aluminum?
At the rapid rate Apple is pumping a vast number of old outdated devices into the landfill, being green is just one more of their sleight of hand tricks.
By fostering a "Must have the latest & greatest" compulsion on the public, it hardly matters.
Apple's hypocrisy is very pervasive.

Been waiting for a white iPhone 4 since day one. So glad that it will finally be released. Can't figure out why everyone here seems to hate on it.
Me neither, I think they look gorgeous :)

So?
When you are looking at 3D with glasses, the image protrudes from the screen. In essence, when you are looking at 3D without glasses, the image should protrude from the screen. Since there's no protrusion, this qualifies as a misnomer.

The telecon’s have interests that are at direct odds with Apple’s vital interests:
Telecon: Most revenue for the smallest possible investment and providing the minimum service to keep customers at the highest prices. Also, monopolies are GOOD.
Apple (and Google, Microsoft, Amazon, et al): Sell products and services at the highest margins possible while expanding customer base, depending largely upon the customer’s abilities to access ever expanding flows of data. Monopolies are BAD because they do not foster increased network data capacity.
So, what could apple do to resolve that situation? How about by buying Sprint, soon to be a marginal player, but with good, but limited, infrastructure, but limited financial resources? Huge investments in capacity and marketing to provide much higher rates of data at drastically lower costs, thereby reducing the monopolies run by ATT-Tmobile and Verizon.
Just thinkin’

This is what i am talking about! Perfect timing for me as my contract with Verizon just got over!
I would hate it if the service provider blocks most of the features of the phone as Verizon did with RAZR.

Not much of a math person either, eh?
Guess not, if I was selling Fruit on my market stall and someone said, what's your top/best selling item of fruit and I said, oh, Apple's Apples are the No.1 and No.2 best selling pieces of fruit I have, they outsell everything.
Oh, so you sell loads of Apples the guy asks?
No, I don't sell that many Apple's compared to my other fruit.
the bloke leave with a confused look on his face.
