At the Supermeet presentation, the guy said "And it's only $299, which means you don't have to decide who gets a copy" (or words to that effect). THe last bit was drowned out by the crowd, but he meant that you no longer have to give everyone FCP/Motion/Color/STP/Cinema Tools if all they need is FCP.
yes.
you guys keep in mind that ONLY FCP is 299. I think Final Cut Pro STUDIO will be around 500-600 Dollar. Still a "Pro-User" pricing so to speak. So most Pro's will go for the suite anyway. I think it's great that Apple is selling the programm itself for this price. It keeps Final Cut Pro alive and I hope that it will be updated more frequently because hopefully more people will use it.

When is Apple going to figure out how to implement software patches instead of forcing people to download a whole copy of the OS for every little update?
Yeah, ~700MB a time is getting really daft. I can't believe they couldn't find a better way to do this.
It's typical of Apple though, assuming everyone in the world has the same internet connection that they do.

Is this the same analyst that speculated Apple was launching the iPad 3 this year?

LOL...really macrumors?! Are you guys that poor at comprehension?!?! I think a 5 year old could tell you they mean network traffic!
I'm not so sure.... I think it could easily be interpreting both ways. but that last part about providing a superior "traffic service" makes me think it means road traffic. What kind of "traffic service" would they provide for network traffic? It would read something along the lines of "to minimize [network] traffic" or "to provide superior reception". But to provide a traffice service implies road traffic.
So get off your high horse, even if it does mean network traffic (which I don't think because of what I said) there are easily ways to interpret for both

After looking at the photos of the new 27 inch iMac from:
http://blog.macsales.com/9995-2011-imac-unboxing-teardown
I wonder why Apple doesn't release an 6970M upgrade for the 11,3 or even the 11,2 generation of iMacs. The heatsink looks identical to the heatsinks used in the two previous 27 iMacs. The shape, size, pretty much everything looks identical. They look like they would fit perfectly. Even if its slighty bigger, I'm sure Apple can make it fit and run great. There shouldn't be any technical reasons why not. Quite frankly, the entire layout of all the parts look identical. So why wont they? There's definitely a big market for it.

I've never used all 4gb, but my activity monitor shows VM size as over 150gb, page ins at 3.15gb and page outs at 0. WTF? I have an SSD. Does this mean my computer is using my SSD instead of RAM and why if there is still 1-2 GB free constantly.

It sounds like you just ripped that directly from a George Carlin routine.
I don't know where I have it from, but the name George Carlin sounds familiar. The part you're quoting has been lying in the back of my mind for quite a while. If it's identical to something that Carlin has said, then it's probably not a coincidence.

Guess not, if I was selling Fruit on my market stall and someone said, what's your top/best selling item of fruit and I said, oh, Apple's Apples are the No.1 and No.2 best selling pieces of fruit I have, they outsell everything.
Oh, so you sell loads of Apples the guy asks?
No, I don't sell that many Apple's compared to my other fruit.
the bloke leave with a confused look on his face.
Is it really that tough for you to understand? Apple sells two phones. Those are the two most popular phones sold.
The other manufacturers ALL sell many, many models of phones. The total sales of those many phones combined equal to a number that is bigger than Apple's total sales.

Phil Schiller is such a bad presenter.
And yes, you are seeing a transfer of power here - whether Steve is sick only he knows I guess.
I thought he was looking better than he did in Jan; certainly hope so!
And yes, just as Phil was finishing, my Powerbook slowed down the stream to virtually nothing and then panicked somewhat messily with code streaming.

i cant believe how low the world marketshare is after a good few years now of ipod halo etc etc...
I can. The iPod halo doesn't work without going hand in hand with the Apple Stores. If people are buying their iPods from shops that don't stock Macs, their opinions on Macs never change. If they buy an iPod from an Apple Store and see Macs all around doing everything their Windows computer can do and more, they become more open to buying a Mac next time a computer purchase comes round.
Apple need to open more international Stores if they want the worldwide share to increase.

So is this the link to streaming for the media? Just wondering 'cause that font is quite un-Apple like used for "Apple Special Event".

there is no "mac pro tax"
there is
Brand tax - what all brands (HP, Dell, etc) charges extra VS buying loose components
Workstation grade component tax - the price you pay extra for workstation components, ECC RAM, Xeon CPU, etc, vs desktop components
Apple update tax - Apple does not lower price (rarely) on the model cycles, making it out of sync (read: more expensive) against component and competitor prices towards end of cycle

for those of you worried about how to input text etc. when a piano keyboard (for example) is on the touch-sensitive pad... in the pictures the touch-pad thing is at least twice the size of the add-on, meaning a big section of unused touchy-space-goodness, used for Inkpad integration or another input. a keyboard and a mixer... that would be sweeeeet.
Also think of the possibilities for school implementation. Some kid craps up his keyboard? just get another add-on out. music lessons? piece of cake with the integrated piano keyboard and mixer. science lessons? optional scientific calculator add on.
whats really cool is you could even have widget like things that can be as small or big as they need to be, to create a truly seamless and intuitive computing experience.
Amazing. Truly Amazing. This is why I love Apple.
